Fence Guard Stain Concentrate is a water-based, low VOC stain from U-C Coatings. Fence Guard is formulated for wood fences and delivers fantastic protection against the elements. Fence Guards is fade resistant with long-lasting water repellency and high-quality pigments.
Mix one part of the Fence Guard Stain concentrate with two parts water to produce a high-quality, cost-effective stain for wood fences of all types. Fence Guard Stain Concentrate is a semi-transparent finish that allows the natural beauty of wood to shine.
Available in four colors: Espresso, Cocoa Brown, Western Redwood, and Sierra-Cedar.

Preparing a Wood Surface for Fence Guard
Fence Guard delivers a finish with natural, beautiful wood color and longevity. Fence Guard stain performance relies on proper surface preparation optimal wood surface conditions. Completely remove any previously applied stains or sealers, as well as dirt, oil, grease, mold, and mildew. Prepare wood surfaces with X-180 Weathered Wood Restorer.
Before applying Fence Guard, scrub heavily discolored wood. Rinse off any Strippers or Cleaners used to prepare the wood for staining. Make sure wood is completely dry before applying Fence Guard.
Applying Fence Guard
Preparation
- Do not apply if rain is expected within 24 hours.
- Apply in temperatures above 45° F (7° C) and below 95° F (35° C).
- Protect any surrounding surfaces from overspray by tarping.
Application
- Test stain initially on a small inconspicuous area to determine if you have the correct color.
- Apply Fence Guard using a roller, garden pump sprayer, brush, or airless sprayer. One generous coat is recommended.
- For extra protection, apply a second coat, but, allow no more than 25 minutes between coats.
Fence Guard should be dry to the touch in under 6 hours. Actual drying time can vary depending on temperature and humidity.
Fence Guard Clean Up
Easily clean painting tools with soap and water. Thoroughly and quickly rinse any areas like walkways, plants, etc. with a garden hose to clean up unwanted drips. Some scrubbing may be required if drips are left too long.
Store in a cool space in an airtight container. Protect concentrate and the diluted stain should be from freezing. The concentrate can be stored for up to 6 months.
